A2 the formats for pre-production processes
Written or visual storyboards
A storyboard is made after an idea or concept has been made
it visually tells the story similarly like a comic strip as it comes along with
small summarised caption of what is going on in the scene. The captions should
hold who is in the scene and their actions, what the characters are saying or
thinking.
The benefits of storyboarding are that is saves a lot of time
as you can see all of the scenes in front of you in the simplest form possible.
Using it as a plan of what you have to film will benefit you as well so you can
keep a record on what you have already finished as you go along. Another
benefit is it improves your total understanding of your product, as again it is
very simple. If you want to add changes and experiment with your product
because you realised you have another idea it will make it very easy to edit on
the storyboard and will not be overcomplicated whereas if you didn’t visualize
your new idea it could make it very confusing for you and everyone else who has
to use it. One more benefit of storyboarding is it increases the likelihood of
you getting your message across clearly and effectively.
If you don’t create a storyboard prior to your production,
then this will make it a lot more difficult to understand for everyone. You
could also be wasting time whilst trying to think about what you need to do
during the scene to do with the look when you can just look at your storyboard,
which can be used as a plan, and follow it step by step.
